My favorite pose is Firefly. I like this pose because even when I feel out of practice, or not as strong as usual, I can somehow always hit this pose.
Because Firefly requires a significant amount of balance and strength, it makes me feel accomplished and purposeful on those days when I don’t necessarily feel that I am at my best.
For students who might be a bit apprehensive about this pose, starting in a modified crow pose might be best. Get in to a squatting position with hands on the floor and rest the knees on the the triceps, keeping the feet on the ground, or maybe lifting one foot at a time. Also, placing blocks underneath the feet may take away some of the fear. Good luck!
