Getting Started with Meditation Tip #1: Take one minute today to sit and observe your immediate surroundings. What to you see? what do you hear? what do you feel?
Getting Started with Meditation Tip #2: There is no ‘right way’ to meditate. That’s the honest truth! Your experience of practicing a meditation or mindfulness technique is not going to be the same as someone else. Now you can proceed without thinking you’re doing it wrong! Phew!
Getting Started with Meditation Tip #3: Don’t expect the practice to eliminate your thoughts! Your mind will not go blank–you will still have thoughts while meditating. One of the benefits of the practice is that it begins to slow down your thoughts, giving yourself the opportunity to better observe them.
Getting Started with Meditation Tip #4: Having trouble remembering to meditate? Try tacking your practice on to something else that you are already disciplined about, like getting ready for bed, brushing your teeth, or washing dishes.It’ll become automatic and then you’ll look forward to the mundane task because you get to meditate afterwards! Pretty nifty trick.
